Troubleshooting the Data Warehouse connection
Squared Up displays performance metrics as graphs, sparklines and bar charts by connecting to the SCOM Data Warehouse using the SquaredUpv3 IIS application pool identity.
If Squared Up is unable to connect to the Data Warehouse you will not see sparklines on a server’s Performance perspective, and you will see an error when viewing performance tiles on a dashboard.
If you do not see sparklines or Squared Up is particularly slow, follow the troubleshooting steps below.
Is the Data Warehouse connection configured?
Ensure that the Data Warehouse connection is properly configured. There are two parts to the Data Warehouse connection: The Data Warehouse connection in Squared Up, and the permissions, i.e. the SquaredUpv3 application pool account having the the OpsMgrReader role for the Data Warehouse database. Login failed for user
access-denied-table: Cannot open database "PerformanceDataContext" requested by the login. The login failed. Login failed for user '<application pool identity>'
Login failed for user indicates that a SQL login has not been created for the application pool identity. To resolve this issue see How to configure the Data Warehouse connection or How to configure the Data Warehouse permissions manually.
This happens if the SquaredUpv3 application pool identity has been changed, but not given the OpsMgrReader role for the Data Warehouse database.
Performance tiles show no error
If your Data Warehouse is configured correctly but you are not seeing graphs on a server performance perspective, then check that your SCOM management group is currently collecting metrics for the server you are viewing. For example, use the SCOM operations console to view metrics for the server.
If performance tiles are showing as blank (no error), check that the Data Warehouse connection you have configured is the correct Data Warehouse for the SCOM server you have specified in the right-hand menu ☰ > system > Connections.
